Questions + Answers
Following are some questions and answers generated to help Leviton and its distributor/channel partner customers understand DDS and our process for delivering product content going forward.
There is no cost to authorized distributors to receive Leviton product content through DDS’ SYNDICATION/io service.
DDS can also provide product content for other manufacturers at an additional cost (via our CONTENT/io offering—our product Content-as-a-Service solution for distributors). Please contact us at any time if you would like to add other manufacturers’ product content to your feed.
DDS has worked closely with the product content team at Leviton to design an efficient process to get each distributor or channel partner set up to receive Leviton content. At the top of this page you will find a Product Content Request form where you can enter your contact information and select a preferred file format and receiving method, export schedule, etc., and we’ll take it from there!
We know that each distributor is different, and we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Our approach is to make it seamless for distributors to add a manufacturer’s products and accompanying content to their websites or ERPs on an automated or scheduled basis based on the individual distributor’s needs.
Our scheduled exports are customized for each of our distributors’ ERP, PIM or e-commerce platforms. We have developed exports for the most common platforms such as Unilog, Insite, Second Phase, Magento, ES Tech Group and XOLogic, as well as several custom platforms.
Some of the common requested file types are JSON, XML, HTML, CSV, Excel and BMEcat. We also have standard and custom exports for common industry PIM platforms such as EnterWorks and InRiver. For those distributors with more sophisticated capabilities and needs, our RESTful API is available for real-time access to our product content including product details, categories, facets, search, accessory and related products, and more.
Unlike other providers, our systems were built specifically for e-commerce content. The way we ingest, store and deliver our content is very unique and doesn’t rely on industry-defined standards or committees.
Another major point of differentiation is that DDS provides complete end-to-end management of the content for the distributor. Instead of dumping manufacturer data into a PIM, and requiring each distributor to download and manipulate that unformatted data into the format each needs, DDS does the work for you—so that you receive a custom-formatted file (which is scheduled and automated) based on your individual system specifications.
Data has truly become a critical commodity, and we believe the role of a valuable content provider is to help manufacturers syndicate it, and distributors manage it, so their end-user customers can continue to rely on them for complete, organized and up-to-date product information, while they stay focused on their respective core initiatives.
